Definition of broadcast

The concept of broadcasting can be generally defined as the process by which a specific message is sent to multiple recipients within a network, which requires a sender, a receiver, and a transmission medium for the process to take place.[١] An example of this is a radio broadcasting a signal to a large number of listeners or digital television subscribers receiving a signal broadcast by their television provider.[٢]

It can also be defined in network science as sending a set of data to a group of devices at once. One of the most famous examples of this is the ability of any device on the local area network (LAN) to send a message to all devices on the same network.[٢]
