What is it? you ask?

Create a blog or website

simply;

A website or blog is a popular place online where people go to get information about a particular field or topic.

When a visitor lands on a website, they feel excited – they finally found what they were looking for! [We hope you felt the same way when you landed on this web page.]

The website is a reliable source of information.

I have built and sold several websites, the first one over 10 years ago!

Selling a website is my favorite way to make a big payday. I've done it several times now and plan to do it again soon.

In the meantime, this article explains websites in more detail.

14 of the Smartest Ways You Can Make Money With a Website Now!

1. Email Marketing

Of all the ways To make money Through a website, this method has earned me the most money over the years.

It helps build a strong brand.

Encourages readers to return to your site.

Traffic may increase on Opportunity The web may be down, but with an email list and a good offer, you're always in business.

Email marketing can make you money in a number of different ways, such as email marketing, which offers free reports that are monetized (containing affiliate links). I like this method the most – and it’s where I recommend everyone start.

Typically, you offer your readers a free report, eBook, or access to a video in exchange for their email address.

This is referred to as a lead magnet.

The important thing here is to offer something of value. Ideally, something people will pay for if it's not free.

I see far too many bloggers offering low quality magnets – poorly produced and often with outdated information. Don't be that blogger!

My favorite strategy is a free report or eBook.

I stress the need for quality information. A simple Word document with high quality information will outperform a fancy PDF with junk information every time.

Fortunately, it's relatively easy to get visitors to sign up – if you use the right approach.

A few years ago, we added a lightbox popup to the website.

Overnight, we went from getting 20+ subscribers per day to 100+ subscribers per day!

At that time, most websites hated pop-ups because of the negative association people had with them. But these pop-ups were different.

Instead of appearing in another browser window, it appears as part of the page you're on.

It was much less intrusive. Better yet, it wasn't promoting something unwanted, but something of value to the reader.

After seeing the huge results, we created our own program, so other website owners could experience the same huge gains we have.

Another list building technique you should try is a squeeze page. A squeeze page (also called a landing page) is a page on your site dedicated to encouraging a visitor to sign up for your mailing list.

Below is our press page for our report on: How to Convert Your Blog to a Website To make money.

Another example is our traffic control report!

To collect and manage emails, I recommend using an email delivery service like Aweber.

Use their service to send messages, create follow-up campaigns, split tests, etc.

For popup blockers we currently use OptiMonk which seems to be the best option on the market. You can also use PopUp Dominating which is a cheaper option.

63.9% of our email subscribers come from pop-ups.

Advantages:

  • Direct path to marketing.
  • One email can make you thousands.
  • You can do it.
  • Most people consider it the number one way to make money online consistently.
  • It can run on autopilot, if you set up an auto-responder chain.

Disadvantages:

If subscribers don't like your emails, they will unsubscribe.

2. How to Make Money Online – Promoting Products as an Affiliate

We earn about 30% of our income from promoting products as an affiliate.

What this means is that we can get paid a commission when a visitor clicks on an affiliate link.

Don't be offended, we only promote what suits us, not because we will earn a commission. You should adopt the same policy. Never promote anything just to get a commission.

It is essential that you believe in the products you are promoting.

Fortunately, almost all of the products out there have an affiliate program.

If you can't find an affiliate program for a specific product, Type the product name + affiliate in Google.

product name + affiliate

For example: [اسم المنتج] الشركة التابعة. يجب أن يؤدي هذا إلى ظهور صفحة تابعة إذا كان لديهم برنامج تابع.

Top marketers consistently agree, year after year, that email marketing is their most important revenue stream.

Combine that with affiliate marketing and you have even more profit.

There are many ways to find a product to promote, and it often depends on your industry.

For example:

For a fitness blog, you can go to: Clickbank, find a product about six pack abs and get a banner ad from their resource area, and put it on my website.

You could also write a blog post like “Top 7 Exercises for Six Pack Abs“Then finally, promote the product.

If you have a photography blog.

One way you can do affiliate marketing is by promoting the cameras and accessories you use.

All of these are available on Amazon.

So join the program Amazons Associate And get a commission every time a customer buys something through your link. You'll also get a commission on anything else in their shopping cart which is a great bonus!

One of the best tips I can give you for increasing affiliate sales is to make sure the products you promote are as targeted to your content as possible.

Most websites have an ad space, which can be on the sidebar, or above or below blog posts.

The mistake most website owners make is to always display the same ad on all pages.

Using conditional marketing, we display different ads depending on the topic of the page.

This is done by setting conditions for different tags, categories and authors. For example, any blog post that contains the tag “Make money online“You will be shown an ad about making money online and any post containing the tag”Increase the number of visits“It will show an ad about the best ways to drive traffic to your site.

This type of targeting will greatly boost your conversions.

Advantages:

  • It can earn you big bucks!
  • Easy to set up and doesn't require much support.
  • Passive income.

theflaws:

  • Profits are not guaranteed, you can earn $100 one month, and $1000 the next month.
  • Great products can have low converting sales pages.
  • High converting sales pages can have poor quality products.

Get automatic link suggestions as you type.

3. Create and sell your physical or digital product.

This is something I'm experimenting with more and more and I'm not sure if it's just me.

Physical products include items such as books, toys, clothing, and white goods. They make up the bulk of online sales.

If you sell physical products, we recommend using the Shopify platform. It’s by far the easiest way to get started selling physical products online. Our Shopify tutorial will help.

Digital products include e-books, software, online courses, etc. This is what we will focus on in this section.

In the past, the simplest way to create a product was to create a 30+ page Word document about NICHE or IDEA and convert that DOC to a PDF and sell it. It’s still possible to do that, but you’re more likely to create a digital course (including videos) these days.

You can learn more about creating and selling a product online by reading these posts.

Personally, I think your first steps would be to ask your audience what they want to know more about and then create a product around that and sell it!

Next time you email your list, include a survey for potential product ideas and ask for feedback.

When it comes to selling any of your own products, I recommend using SamCart for your checkout page, upsells, and affiliate program. They have a free trial, so be sure to give it a try.

Advantages:

  • Affiliates send you traffic, building your business.
  • Passive income due to affiliates promoting it.
  • Great for building your brand and authority.
  • Make big money.

Disadvantages:

  • Takes a long time to set up.

Special Note:

At Pen & Number, we make most of our money selling our own online courses and software, as well as other people’s products as an affiliate. But there are many different ways to make money online.

It may take some time to figure out the best way to make money from your website. Patience is a virtue. If something doesn’t work, try something else. Don’t give up.

The main reason why people fail at blogging and creating Websites are not their idea or location. Their web is not good but because they give up early.

There's one more thing to consider if you're serious about getting it online: a digital marketing certification.

4. Selling advertising space

Although I'm not a huge fan of this, one of the The easiest way to make money From a website is to place ads on it. Google AdSense is one of the popular ways to quickly display ads on your website. But make sure you follow Google’s rules – you can’t click on ads that appear in the hope of getting a commission.

We all know what ads look like, but did you know that they work in several different ways such as pay per click, pay per 1000 views, or pay per time frame.

The biggest downside to ads on websites is that most people know what they look like and avoid clicking on them.

When selling ads, you typically have two options:

  1. Find advertisers and work with them yourself.

or

  1. Work with a broker who takes a cut of bringing advertisers to you.

It all depends on you…

Is this a job for you or is this just an opportunity to make more money?

I always tend to find advertisers myself. In my experience, you get paid more, build better partnerships, and can do a better job for them.

Ad sales only make up a small portion of my earnings, but it's nice to know that money is almost guaranteed every month.

Be careful: Google doesn't like the practice of buying and selling text links.

People buy text links because Google ranks sites better based on the quantity and quality of links.

When you link to someone, you're telling search engines that you trust that site and giving them some of your authority.

Google likes this to happen organically.

Please do not buy/sell links on your site for the purpose of SEO and manipulating search engines. If you do and get caught, Google will penalize you by lowering your site in the global rankings. It is not worth the risk.

BuySellAds is another company that makes it easy to sell advertising space on your website or blog.

Advantages:

Often a guaranteed income.
Little effort to generate income.
It saves you a lot of time.
A great way to connect with others in your field.

Disadvantages:

Takes away from the user experience.
If you set a fixed price per month, you won't be able to make more even if you double your traffic.
Advertisers come and go, and you have to spend time editing, adding, deleting, and finding more advertisers.

5. Do product reviews.

Do product reviews

I know quite a few bloggers who review products on their blogs. It provides great content and if the product you are reviewing has an affiliate program, it can make you money.

You can review anything from software to bikes, cars, hotels, vacations, food, anything you can think of and it can be tax deductible (I think) if you buy something to review.

Check out this post on how to start a review blog.

Personally, I like to review one product per month, not so much that readers will be put off by it but enough to make up a significant percentage of my income. Doing a small number of reviews means you can pick the best products without having to talk about the negative ones.

Special Note:

Sometimes, especially as your blog becomes more popular, you’ll get products sent for free in the hope that you’ll write a positive review. If that happens, it’s important to state that you received a free sample. Honestly, your reader might think so anyway – and I think it’s always best to be transparent about these things.

Additionally, your review should remain fair and unbiased. Don’t make it a glowing positive review – well, not unless it’s deserved!

Advantages:

  • A great source of income.
  • Conversions are higher than banner ads and email promotions.
  • Often times free products are sent to you for review.
  • Connect with industry leaders.
  • Get noticed as a top affiliate.
  • It's not always about the money! Sometimes you'll introduce a new product simply because it adds value to your page and benefits the reader.

Disadvantages:

  • You can't always say nice things.
  • If you say bad things, the company may not send you free samples in the future.
  • Products quickly become irrelevant in some industries. (Content becomes outdated and needs to be replaced)

Note:

We don't do a lot of product reviews these days, but sometimes a new idea or approach catches our attention and we'll feature it – like in this example of virtual debit and credit cards.

6. Selling services

Selling services is a very popular method that people use to make money from their website and is often the reason they started a blog in the first place. They want to get more customers, and to do that they need traffic and blogs are great for that!

The easiest way to start selling your services on your blog is to create a new page within WordPress and call it Services. Here you can put information about what you offer, testimonials, and a Buy Now button.

To collect payments, your best two options are PayPal or Stripe.

Advantages:

  • High conversion rate, they see your blog and want more!
  • Very profitable.
  • Easy to deliver.
  • Refunds are low.

Disadvantages:

  • Exchange time for money.
  • Customers are always right (which we know isn't true).
  • There can be periods of time when there are no customers!

7. Create a job board

This works like this:

People looking to hire someone will post a job on your board and readers will apply for the job. This is a great way to monetize a website that I have seen a lot of authority websites do.

On the other hand, I have seen smaller blogs try to do this and fail completely because it is competitive and if you can’t send anyone to apply, it is pointless for them to post a job. Jobs can be anything from writers to coaches.

As for which software to use, I recommend checking out Fiverr. They have a selection of freelancers who specialize in creating job board sites.

When it comes to marketing your job board, you will need to use some of your advertising space to promote the job board so that readers will see it and apply for jobs.

Charge a low price at first so you can attract a lot of customers and when they get the apps and customers they will be happy to come back.

Problogger is a great example of a job board.

Ask yourself, can I create a job board that fits my niche?

If you can, it can become a very good source of income.

Advantages:

  • Put your hands up completely, you don't have to do anything.
  • Adds to credibility

Disadvantages:

  • Doesn't work for micro blogs.
  • Very competitive at times.

Want to make more money with your website?
Top tip: خذ الوقت الكافي لفهم تحسين محركات البحث [SEO]

One of the primary software tools we recommend comes from SEMrush.

It will put your SEO efforts on steroids!

SEMRush is our favorite SEO tool. It’s especially good for keyword research. Use this SEO tool to analyze not only your own website, but your competitors’ websites. Easily see what keywords your or your competitor’s website ranks for. Useful information that lets you know which of your posts aren’t ranking well and what you can do about it.

8. Provide a membership site or premium content.

This technique has become more popular over the past few years.

The idea is simple, people come to your website because they want to read your content. They love it and want more. So you give them better content for a price.

Your first step should be to decide what you are going to offer. After that, you will need to go ahead and create a membership area for them to log in and see the information you are selling.

Once you have it set up, you’ll need to focus on marketing it. For best results, I recommend focusing on email marketing and adding an ad at the bottom of each page, indicating that if they like what they’ve read so far, they should check out the better-paying content.

Another option is to launch an affiliate program for your membership site. This will not only increase sales, but will also bring you more traffic.

For billing, checkout pages, upsell pages, and affiliate programs, I recommend SamCart.

If you want someone else to set up your membership site, you can hire someone to do it on Fiverr.

Advantages:

  • Income continuity, keep making money, month after month.
  • It can be set and forgotten, if you release the time.
  • Affiliates will send you traffic!
  • It can be a huge source of income, it represents more than $90,000 per month for Tutsplus.

Disadvantages:

  • It can be a lot of work to set up.
  • Regular work to release more content.

9. Sell paid directory listings

This is not very common but I think it should be.

I see it as a smart way to sell advertising, instead of putting ads on your sidebar, you have a directory on your blog where you can link to different companies and websites in your industry and get paid a premium for the listing. If you charge a monthly fee, for example, let’s say you have 1,000 people listed in your directory and you pay $7 a month, you’ll be making $7,000 a month on a rolling basis.

In some ways, this is actually beneficial to the reader, let’s say you have a website about becoming a model, the directory could have a section for photographers, where photographers pay to list their services. Models will come and look for the right person to take their photos for their portfolio, which is useful and profitable.

Just like a job board, I would add ads to my blog, and promote the directory to make sure clients are satisfied with the number of people seeing their ads and the traffic they get. Initially, I would advertise on other sites to encourage people to list in your directory, as well as reaching out to people and businesses to purchase a listing.

Advantages:

  • Very profitable.
  • Useful for readers.
  • It makes you stand out when you do something different.
  • Almost guaranteed income.

Disadvantages:

  • Setup costs.
  • May not work well for small sites.

10. Host webinars and sell something

Webinars are great for selling high-ticket products, whether as a product owner or as an affiliate.

Alternatively, you could set up a free webinar that you replay once a week, teach something, and then eventually sell it in 4 more webinars. Once you’ve completed the webinar series, you now have a product that you can sell as a home study course.

Here's a great introduction to how to sell through webinars.

Advantages:

  • High price, few customers, very low support.
  • Readers want to connect with you.
  • Very helpful for those who buy.
  • Great way to teach.

Disadvantages:

  • If you are conducting live webinars, you are exchanging time for money.
  • Investing in software.
  • People have to be there at a specific time, which is difficult for different time zones.

11. Write lessons and promote something.

Another thing I don't see often, but I love doing!

Content is what everyone is looking for, that's why they come to your website, so create content that involves buying something so that when they buy, they're buying through an affiliate link, and you're making money!

What I do to create a tutorial is I start with a product, find a product that you use and get a lot of benefit from, and of course it needs an affiliate program. Then I do a tutorial on doing something with that tool.

For example, it could be a post about photography and taking a certain type of photo but you need this lens to do it.

Advantages:

  • Create great content.
  • Good for search engines.
  • Profitable in the long run.
  • Fast to produce.

Disadvantages:

  • Find enough products that have affiliate programs.
  • Some people may not be interested because they don't have the product yet.

12. Evil book

Many people want to write a book, but they don't have an audience.

A blog can bring your brand to life, it can help you connect with other people in your industry, it can help you understand what people like to read about, and most importantly, what people don’t like. Here’s an article we published about writing a best-selling book.

A lot of people don't think about the book because you only get a few dollars for the book, but that's not all you get.

Publishing a book can allow you to launch a product because people always want more, and the more exciting prospect gets paid to speak. If your work is published, you are automatically seen as an expert, and it doesn’t matter if you never sell more than a dozen books, it means you can charge for speaking and charge much more for consulting.

There are many different ways to publish a book, most choose to self-publish, but if your blog is successful, they will either find you or in my case, a friend contacted me with his post and told me I should write a book. Someone in your industry who also blogs will publish a book, help them and they will help you.

Advantages:

  • authority.
  • Long term profits.
  • Increase your consulting fee.
  • Paid to speak at events.

Disadvantages:

  • Timely or expensive if you have a ghostwriter.
  • It doesn't make you much money on its own.

13. Providing direct training and workshops.

Just like selling consulting and services, you can also use your blog to sell live training, workshops, and seminars.

People read your blog, but I wouldn't be surprised if over 80% of them don't act on what you say. Having a workshop means they are learning from you and implementing with you, and that's a very attractive proposition to some people and they're willing to pay high prices to do it.

Not only do you make money from the ticket price, you can also make money from selling follow-up workshops and masterminds. If you bring in speakers, you also collect 50% of whatever they make if they sell out of the stage at the end. Another thing to consider is recording the event and then selling it as a product on your blog.

Organizing an event is a daunting task, but it's really not that hard. Call a hotel, book a conference room, now you have a date, write a blog post and send everyone on your mailing list to that page.

Mention your event everywhere and keep it moving! Other than that, all you have to do is create your own slides and show them. Some of my friends even hire people to handle everything for them so they don’t have to worry about the event side of things.

Advantages:

  • It can make you a lot of money.
  • It can be converted into a product.
  • People will invite you to speak at their events so you can sell your events.
  • Makes you an authority.

Disadvantages:

  • Time consuming.
  • Selling can be tough sometimes.
  • Stressful for first timers and often for professionals. You think the deal is done and then it falls apart at the last minute.

14. Sell Your Website – The Ultimate Way to Make Money Online

My favorite of all the above and also the one that pays the most.

Turning your blog into a referral blog or website will give you one of the biggest paydays ever.

Typically, websites sell for 12-24 months of revenue, however, if your site is old, has something unique about it, or is an authority in your industry, you can expect any number you want. I have seen some blogs that have been generating revenue for over 200 years and haven’t even made $100,000 a year.

Work hard and it will pay off.

It’s important to remember that if you sell your site for two years and it makes $5,000 a month, you’ll make $120,000. It would take 6 or 7 years to earn that amount of money because of expenses and taxes. You also have to factor in how long it took you to build your business. If it took you two years and you sell for $120,000, it would be like making an extra $60,000 a year.

AWhere can I sell my website?
Flippa.com is a popular site for many people. With over 200,000 buyers looking to buy your website or online business, Flippa.com is the place to be for both buyers and sellers.

Flippa is good for small sites that make less than $100,000 a year in revenue — although it does handle larger transactions.

However, if you have a more profitable online business, we recommend using a website broker – the personal touch can go a long way in extracting maximum value from your website.

Advantages:

  • A large sum of money.
  • It can be sold within a month.
  • Enough money to not have to work for years.

Disadvantages:

  • Lose an asset.
  • Check your income stream.
